I often find images and keep them until the right wall and/or event comes up. This piece was painted for the 50th Birthday of John Nation, the Godfather of Bristol graffiti and fitted the wall and occasion perfectly. In all my years of painting on the street Stokes Croft always draws the most onlookers, and maybe because the nature of the piece I had no end of people stood behind me taking pictures on their phones that day.
By chance a photographer called Jenny Foulds was on a photo scouting trip from London taking some shots for a book she was publishing ‘Happy Graffiti’ and this piece made the book.
